Neem oil is a fixed (carrier) oil, cold-pressed from the seeds of the Azadirachta indica tree, native to India, and naturally contains the chemical compound azadirachtin.

Neem oil has been used for centuries as a natural pesticide. Today, it is widely used in pest control applications, replacing synthetic pesticides pest control products for the modern agricultural industry and home gardens. It can kill a wide variety of insects, including aphids, beetles, caterpillars, mosquitoes, and varroa mites, and help to control powdery mildew, black spot, and other fungal diseases. It is commonly used in the treatment of scale on citrus and other fruit trees.

Neem oil is also used as an ingredient in skin and hair care products, including soaps, shampoos, and pet shampoos. Because of its yellow-to-brown color and garlic/sulfur smell, and because it may irritate the skin, Neem Oil is best diluted with another carrier such as jojoba, coconut, or almond oil, and often scented with small amounts of essential oils such as lavender or peppermint oil when used in personal care formulations.
